Information about the MDD file

Point Oven is a suite of plugins which is designed to bake fcurve and vertex data type to streamline pipelines. MDD file format is used by this application to save deformation data.

This file is used to simulate the deformation of any specific object. When running the file the application stores the position of every vertex of the mesh. The user then simulates the deformation process and the Point Oven application then deforms the mesh correctly by calculating the deformation degree of each point of mesh. The size of the file depends upon of the level of detail and hence the division of each mesh into individual parts.
